It’s been a little bit of a slow start to the year 2026 and I’ve taken much of January to decompress. I’ve been mainly listening to European New Wave music really, it’s so damn good I can’t stop! But Texas Death Metal band Stabbing has broken the ice for me with the absolute crusher of an album that is Eon of Obscenity. Hopefully this is the kickstart I’ve needed for this year of music ahead.
I’ve been pretty busy with work. Mainly playing all the Resident Evil games in preparation for Requiem (9) coming out later this month. That kinda work. I don’t know if you’ve seen the highlights/previews of Leon gameplay, (if not go look) but Stabbing has given me a perfect soundtrack to lay over that. When I hear a song like Reborn to Kill Once More, I’m just imagining the 49 year old Leon S. Kennedy getting called back into Racoon City, and violently caving in the skulls of those poor zombies with his boots. They didn’t stand a chance. He indeed has been Reborn to Kill Once More. Other stand out tracks for me are Inhuman Torture Chamber, and Sonoluminescent Hemoglobinopathy.
This album is brutal death metal the way it’s meant to be. No trace of cosplaying, no trap beats, no gimmicks. Just brutality. Evil chainsaw riffin tearing through your ass, abrasive and blasting drums, and of course the oh so sickening standout vocals. Bridget is almost certainly possessed. I mean just listen to the vocals on Symphony of Absurdity, that part near the end of the song is almost frightening, and that’s not the only place on the album where that Alien vs Predator shit happens! The hell is going on!
Stabbing’s debut full length in 2022 didn’t click with me that much, it’s definitely good, but Eon of Obscenity is on a complete different level. Stabbing brought the fucking heat with this record. It’s a brutal crushing assbeater that demands your listen.
For fans of Gorgasm, Disgorge, Brodequin.
Score: 9/10
